Rainbows - A Reminder of God's promises

The Rainbow - a reminder of God's promises.

I love seeing rainbows, the colors, vibrant, the reminder of His promises, the way that they always appear after the rain. As I drove to Macon this past weekend - I was once again reminded of His promises, but this came in the most unexpected way. I was driving, dodging semi trucks on I-16, squinting in the sun. The sun was beautiful by the way but finally I decided, the sunglasses must be put on or else I would be driving with a headache - a big NO thank you. So I put them on and what appeared, but the tiniest sliver of a rainbow. I was astonished, I didn't notice it when I was squinting in to the sun but when i put on my sunglasses it appeared. I stared for nearly 30 minutes, asking the Lord - what am I to learn from this?

Then the Lord began reminding me of the Rainbow and when He gave Noah the first rainbow as a sign, a promise. And the Lord gently said, "Stephanie, so many times you are blinded. Blinded by your circumstances and you are squinting to see me - to remember my promises to you. But all you have to do is put on the sunglasses (aka change your perspective) and you are reminded of MY promises to you once again and you see clearly (as I did when I was wearing the sunglasses).

What a great reminder to my  heart that even when I walk through times when I feel as though I can't go on and I am discouraged I can be reminded that His promises, much like my rainbow, was always there but it took a change of perspective and a pair of sunglasses to be reminded of the beauty of His promises and a beautiful sliver of a rainbow.
